MIRROR OF ÜCKENDORF
Mirror of Ückendorf is an interactive video installation in the district Ückendorf of Gelsenkirchen, that wants to motivate passersby to take part. It actually is a 2.5 pixel matrix which consists of a total of 484 plastic drinking cups. These are arranged in a narrow grid. As they are self-illuminating they can produce a roughly gridded coloured picture.
This screen serves as a mirror that includes the viewer as well as the surroundings. Everybody looking at the installation is filmed by a camera. These pictures are instantly transmitted on to the image surface. With your own movements you can design the contents of the image surface creatively. Photos can also be posted on Instagram #mirrorofueckendorf which are then roughly gridded integrated into the installation live.
